October 17, 2019 is International Credit Union Day, and Greater Iowa Credit Union will join 56,000 credit unions around the world in celebration! With 200+ million credit union members around the world, and more than 100 million in the U.S. alone, credit unions work hard to support and give back to their local communities. Wonderful people and organizations in every community are doing their part to help improve the lives of those around them. You’ll find credit union employees volunteering their time to help these nonprofit organizations work towards their missions. Credit unions also donate funds to support local nonprofits. Greater Iowa is proud to be a part of the not-for-profit cooperative spirit that all credit unions share, which is “people helping people”.
This week we are celebrating the credit union movement in a few different ways! Last night we held the first of our two Fraud and Security Workshops at the Urbandale Public Library. In case you missed it, you can still join us tomorrow night in Ames for the second workshop.
We also launched our Fall Food Drive on October 14th which will continue until November 22! All of our branches are collecting nonperishable, unexpired food items that will be donated to a local food pantry in each of the communities we serve. We would love your support in helping us donate as much food as possible!
The public is welcome to stop by Greater Iowa Credit Union locations and celebrate a movement that concerns itself with the financial success of all people. We’ll have small treats for those who stop by one of our branch locations!
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you, our members, for giving us the opportunity to serve you each day! We strive to better ourselves, our services and our communities every day and look forward to all that lies ahead.
